The J5 Robotic Mobility Platform is a highly versatile and cost-effective robotic platform designed for use in
harsh environments. The rugged vehicle is fully amphibious, can climb slopes of up to 35 degrees, and with 24" tires (optionally tracks),
can manoeuvre through almost any terrain imaginable. Designed using Ontario Drive and Gear's
J5 Mobility Platform, the 4x4
electric-drive robot is ideal for use in many industries, including first response, fire and rescue, law-enforcement and military, agriculture,
mining, and many others. Controlled using PRS' Advanced Robotic Intelligence System (ARIS), the J5 comes in
various configurations to suite a wide range of needs.
For recreational or research and development applications, the platform comes with a base RF kit that allows tethered or medium range line-of-sight control over the platform and on-board drive-systems. Optional messaging APIs, or integration through Player or ROS can be made available for third-party developers wishing to design their own control algorithms and higher-level functionality.
For more advanced operation, PRS provides tele-operation and autonomy kits intended for use in hazardous environments, or areas
requiring remote operation. These systems provide a higher level of functionality and situational awareness to the operators, and allow
for more complex mission scenarios. In these circumstances, a two-way radio system is used to relay on-board video and system telemetry back
to an operator, while sending control commands from the operator to the robot. A rugged Remote Control Station (RCS) is used to display the
data and give the operator the situational awareness required to perform the task at hand. All on-board systems, payloads and sensors can be
operated remotely, keeping the operator out of harm's way.
Optional payloads such as a GPS/IMU systems for mapping, CBRN sensors, two-way audio, lighting for night operation, PTZ or fixed cameras for increased situational awareness, horns, and other such devices can be easily integrated to augment the platform's already vast capabilities. The number of applications for the J5 Robotic Platform are virtually endless, representing a significant increase in value over other systems.
